This is " Modern Masters 2015", and people want to see Modern playables in the set. Sure, there would be a Limited component at play, but this isn't "Sealed Masters 2015". The Release Notes affirmed these goals, stating "some of the most beloved and iconic cards from the Modern format will appear in the same booster packs". In their initial set announcement, the designers promised "every card in Modern Masters can be added to your favorite Modern-format decks".

Rather, on how the cards in the set truly represent the Modern staples and playables of the namesake format.īy its nature, Modern Masters was promised as a set full of Modern hallmarks. Not just the value: plenty of articles and experts have written extensively on this. But one element missing from most of these analyses is the playability of Modern Masters 2015. There have been numerous articles, posts, and analyses on the set, including both articles and reddit posts on its expected value, general set reviews, and thousands of posts worth of player opinion. It's impossible to not compare it to MM2013. Although all Magic sets produce these divided opinions, it is more pronounced with Modern Masters 2015 because of the value of certain cards and the high expectations surrounding the product. Others lashed out for a supposed lack of solid rares, the absence of other key staples, and other unfavorable comparisons to the first Modern Masters. Some players applauded Wizards for improving the set's mythics, reprinting key staples, and increasing the print run. For example those that sit there pressing F5 on spoiler releases, others are pressing F5 when the art is finally available? I could see the collector or art or flavor enthusiasts (and more I am sure) being quite into reprints with new art.As with most set releases, the full Modern Masters 2015 Spoiler was met with mixed reviews. I wonder how many people anticipate new art like many will anticipate new spoilers. The funny thing is that this art isnt a million miles away from the original, so for me I cant see too many people that didnt like the original art now all of a sudden liking this one (I really like the original as well). Its just tough when we talk about something so personal as art (or music, or anything that really does come down to personal taste). For example some people hated that they did new art for the new bob or tarmo in MMA, but then I see others that adore it (though that could be a terrible example as some might just be associating iconic status of powerful cards opposed to the art work).

In some cases I am sure there is that element of taste/personal opinion. I guess its just a case of making more options available, maybe not everyone likes X cards art (not saying Etched). I really like the new art, but I know what you mean. r/magicTCG is not produced, endorsed, supported by, or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
